How to Connect MetaMask to Binance Smart Chain (Step by Step)

By adding BNB Smart Chain (BSC) to your MetaMask wallet, you may swap from Ethereum to BSC, use DeFi applications, and trade on DEXs like PancakeSwap.

MetaMask is an open-source Web3 wallet with over 10 million monthly active users. It has evolved to serve the whole Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) ecosystem by allowing users to store and exchange digital assets, as well as host Decentralized Finance (DeFi) applications, NFT Marketplaces, and facilitate blockchain games.

Let's look at how to integrate BNB Smart Chain with MetaMask.

Step 1: Install MetaMask Extension

If you haven't already, install the MetaMask browser extension on your preferred web browser. Visit the MetaMask website (https://metamask.io/) and follow the instructions provided to install the extension.

Step 2: Create or import a MetaMask wallet

Open the MetaMask extension in your browser. If you're using it for the first time, you'll need to create a new wallet. To configure your MetaMask wallet, adhere to the on-screen instructions. If you already have a MetaMask wallet, you can import it using your existing seed phrase.

Step 3: Consider using the Binance Smart Chain Network

Once your MetaMask wallet is set up, click on the network dropdown in the top center of the MetaMask interface. By default, it will be set to "Ethereum Mainnet." Scroll down to the bottom of the dropdown and click on "Custom RPC."

Step 4: Add Binance Smart Chain Details

In the "Custom RPC" section, you need to provide the Binance Smart Chain network details. Enter the following information:

Network Name: Binance Smart Chain

New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/

ChainID: 56

Symbol: BNB

Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com/

Click "Save" once you've finished entering the information.

Step 5: Connect MetaMask to Binance Smart Chain

Now that you have added the Binance Smart Chain network, return to the network dropdown and select "Binance Smart Chain" from the list of available networks. MetaMask will switch to the Binance Smart Chain network.

Step 6: Add BNB to MetaMask Wallet

To interact with Binance Smart Chain, you need some BNB (Binance Coin) in your MetaMask wallet. Click on the account icon in the top right corner of the MetaMask interface to view your wallet address. Copy the address and go to a cryptocurrency exchange like Binance.com. Buy BNB and withdraw it to your MetaMask wallet address.

Step 7: Confirm Connection

Once you have BNB in your MetaMask wallet, you can start using decentralized applications (DApps) on the Binance Smart Chain. When interacting with a DApp, MetaMask will prompt you to confirm the connection. Review the details and click "Connect" to establish the connection between MetaMask and the DApp.

That's it! You have successfully connected MetaMask to the Binance Smart Chain. Now you can use MetaMask to interact with various decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and tokens on the Binance Smart Chain network.

Note:

Please note that the steps provided are based on the MetaMask interface and functionality as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021. The exact steps or interface may vary slightly based on updates made by MetaMask.
